A night at Chapman Plaza, 6th street and S. Alexandria Avenue in Korea Town, one of the most dense and flourishing parts of LA. The Chapman building, an Art Deco block from 1929, has a new life with Korean bars, cafés, shops and restaurants. Seen from the street, the building is nicely lighted, but doesn’t show its content. The courtyard though, is packed with young Angelinos, standing and chatting all over the place or in lines for the amenities. That the same courtyard with all the entrances is packed with cars seem to bother nobody… like a drive-in disco, it adds to the atmosphere. This is the same generation that considers car ownership less important.
