Yesterday night the LA professionals discussed the recoding of LA. A new system of zoning the city, RE:CODE LA. Can a zoning plan bear the vision of the future, or does it only reflect the vision? Many thoughtful building-blocks for a vision were expressed. To me, a zoning plan seems not the right type of plan to develop a vision, unless LA re-invents the zoning plan.
One architect explained how eclectic and innovative LA is by pointing out of the window: the Art Deco Library that everybody loves, the Californian Club for the old men and The Standard Hotel for the young and vibrant. Afterwards I checked out the young and vibrant.
